Cornfield Meet

Things collide here.

You just keep on trying until you run out of cake.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a non-Star Wars video game and said, "Damn, do I want that."
Well, guess what?
Truthfully, I hadn’t heard anything about Portal before it was released this month, but that diagram is just a big bundle of braintease and I want to play this thing awfully bad.
The real selling point, though? The song from the closing credits: (Been in my head for days. Still there. Enjoy the cake.)

Since I’m unlikely to get my hands on Portal anytime soon, though, I’ve been giving some thought to giving NaNoWriMo another shot, just for fun. Tried it several years ago, wandered into the desert barely 11,000 words in and just died there. Haven’t done much writing for fun lately and this might be the thing that gets me back on the horse.

One last thing: I hope everyone’s enjoying Comet Holmes. Seriously – it’s a-frakking-mazing. My daughter and I have spent two blessedly clear nights outside this week watching it grow brighter. She’s totally enthralled with it, which gave me the chance to introduce her to a couple other backyard stargazing sights like the double cluster between Perseus and Cassiopeia and a double star near Vega.
